Viator Now Enables Tourists to Pay for Trips with Cryptocurrencies

Tripadvisor recently made a very promising announcement for its users and the tourists. They officially announced that they have partnered with a Blockchain Company known as ShareRing. ShareRing is based in Australia and has recently announced its partnership with “Viator”, which is Tripadvisor’s marketplace.

After the integration of the blockchain platform, the users will have another payment method added for their convenience. This would allow users to pay with a variety of cryptocurrencies to avail almost 400,000 tourism experience – said Tripadvisor.

ShareRing is a platform that has been built on the Tendermint platform with aims to provide convenience to the users. With ShareRing technology integrated, the users will be able to book, register, and pay for more than 395,000 services offered by Viator. The services provided include experiences and global activities.

Once the users have booked and registered for an activity, they can move on to the next step of making the payment. Here, the users can choose to pay either with fiat currencies or with major cryptocurrencies. A few of the major cryptocurrencies are Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and ShareRing’s native cryptocurrency, SharePay token (SHRP)

After the successful integration of the ShareRing technology, the Viator platform has received a significant technological advancement. Viator will now use ShareRing’s ID system in order to ensure the safety of the users. It will ensure that the sensitive personal and financial information of the users is handled securely.

In addition to this, the system is also equipped with contact tracing features. This will allow Viator to stay up-to-date with tourism safety in the time of the pandemic.

The CEO of ShareRing, Tim Bos acknowledged the announcement made by Tripadvisor. He stated that they are very glad to have added Viator into their blockchain ecosystem. He added that ShareRing is determined to deliver the best service to Viator and provide solutions that would help them expand their services.

Tim Bos said that when the users create an account on the ShareRing, they actually set up an ID on ShareRing’s blockchain. This ID is accessible by none other than the user his/herself so there are no chances of any information theft. By doing this, they are able to create a trust relationship between the user and the platform.

This would also apply to Viator and with the help of this technology; Viator will be able to target a bigger user market.

Adding to his statement, Tim Bos also commented on the services and benefits that the customers can use through Viator. He stated that in near future, the users will be able to perform bookings for flights and hotels. In addition to this, the users will be able to pay for rented cards, tourist, and visa applications with the help of cryptocurrencies.
